Animals Don’t Live in Fear
Erica Kasun
She watched as the waves hit the shore,
They splashed and crashed, but not much more
The fish, all red, swam in a line
All shapes, all sizes, each divine.
The beach, so calm, but that’s before
The sharks! They came! In packs galore!
Big teeth, rough skin, ready to dine,
Little fish swam away, close behind
Hermit crabs, small, hid in shells
Peeking out, scared, hearing death bells
The seahorse, he’s silent, quiet with fear
Even starfish, so calm, shed a tear
Each night, these animals, locked in cells
They know their time might not end well.
Crabs and lobsters with protective gears,
Good thing animals don’t live in fear.
