Worst College Essay

My biggest failure was firing my personal maid. One day she brought her child to work. She claims that she can’t afford childcare. I promptly told her that not only this was wildly inappropriate, but she was breaking child labor laws. I pride myself in being an activist. I use my voice for those poor souls, spiritually and financially, who don’t have one. This is the twenty first century and child labor will not be tolerated. This young child should not have to grow up on the job just because she has an incompetent mother who always works. Being the compassionate person that I am, I looked up the number for Child Protective Services and called. The next day, my maid wouldn’t stop weeping. She said they took her child away. I told her that it was better this way. Even so, she just kept crying. With all that crying, I fired her because I can’t have tear-stained carpets. Being the good samaritan I am, I gave her bus fare for the ride home.

I regretted this decision, because I didn’t know how to remove dried tears, or really anything for that matter. I am too invested in all my AP classes and volunteer work to be bothered with trivial things such as cleaning. I aspire to be Angelina Jolie, and she doesn’t clean. If given the chance, I would adopt my ex-maid’s child, just like my role model would. I learned two things from this experience: I bettered a child’s life, and al ways remember tohire a maid without children.
